Inhalation Sedation Half-day update seminars

These "RA" 1/2-day update seminars 
are exclusively open to members of the dental team 
who currently utilise
 Inhalation Sedation.


Structure

Introduction 8.45am – 9.00am

9.00am – 11.00am Lecture/presentation

  • ·       Current recommendations
  • ·       Responsibilities to the anxious, fearful or phobic patient
  • ·       Patient assessment for success: Differentiating Fear, Anxiety and Phobia
  • ·       Alternative strategies for dental fear, anxiety or phobia.
  • ·       Fitness for Sedation – ASA scale
  • ·       Patient monitoring and recording parameters
  • ·       Neuro-pharamocology: mode of action of nitrous oxide in the central nervous system
  • ·       The anaesthetic continuum: – a reminder
  • ·       Achieving consistency the sedation end-point
  • ·       How to react and proceed safely in the case of overdosage
  • ·       Compare/contrast with the other standard dental sedation techniques.
  • ·       Working safely: Scavenging and ventilation & cylinder storage
  • ·       Pre-op and post-op instructions
  • ·       Patient information and the consent process

Round table clinical case discussions

 Case presentations and problem-solving


Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this half-day update program:

Dental Specialists, GDPs and DCPs will be able to demonstrate that their knowledge of the technique is up to date, evidenced by a summative assessment MCQ with a 70% pass mark and that will have had the opportunity to discuss specific cases or concerns with experienced colleagues in a conducive learning environment.
